While speaking at an event touting the importance of infrastructure Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden likened New York's LaGuardia Airport to one found in a "third world country."
Biden said that if he were to blindfold someone and take them to an airport in Hong Kong, they would guess that they must be in a modern, American airport. But not so LaGuardia:
"If I took you and blindfolded you and took you to LaGuardia Airport in New York, you'd think, ‘I must be in some third-world country,’" Biden said.
After drawing some chuckles from the crowd, Biden defended his assessment and told them, "I'm not joking."
It's no secret LaGuardia isn't exactly favorite for travelers. In fact, it was crowned the very worst airport in the country by Travel & Leisure in 2012.
Several on Twitter agreed with the vice president's harsh words:

Joe Biden said today that Laguardia seems like "it's in some third world country." Not sure why you'd insult third world countries like that
