HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii transportation officials have released video of a California teen hopping from a jet's wheel well after stowing away for a 5½-hour flight to Maui.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation released six minutes of security footage Tuesday showing 15-year-old Yahya Abdi jumping from the Boeing 767, then walking slowly toward the front of the plane and talking with an airport worker for several minutes.
The department's spokeswoman, Caroline Sluyter, says the footage was released after the state attorney general's office reviewed media requests.
San Jose, California, police spokesman Albert Morales says the Somali immigrant flew back to California over the weekend and was being cared for by Santa Clara County Child Protective Services.
Abdi jumped the fence at a San Jose airport before climbing into the Hawaiian Airlines plane.
