It's no surprise that some high-rollers drop a few thousand dollars a night on hotel rooms in Las Vegas. And one could almost buy a house with the nightly fee at some hotel rooms abroad.
But a hotel suite in the San Francisco Bay Area going for $25,000 a night might be a first.
After an extensive $20 million renovation, the Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa in Sausalito -- a waterfront San Francisco Bay town at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge -- is unveiling its crown jewel: the 11-room Mansion at Casa Madrona. The mansion was originally built in 1885 as a private residence for gas and electric mogul William Barrett, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
According to marketing materials, the suite sleeps 24 and comes with a 1,700-square-foot meeting space, a private fitness center, a two-tiered outdoor dining area, a video wall and amenities like the day use of a private yacht, a Mercedes ML350 with a driver, and a private staff.
Conveniently, a two-bedroom portion of the mansion -- dubbed the Alexandrite Suite -- can be rented on its own for a paltry sum of $10,000 a night, thus redefining the economical option.
